Joey's ability to sit in a strange car and be on the pace straight away was hugely impressive. He was immediately quicker than his team mate who had been driving the car all year. He is a natural talent and reminded us of (F1 driver) Kimi Raikkonen when he tested with us. Joey will definately win championships at all levels with the right machinery.
I have been impressed with Joey's performance since he first took to the tracks in Formula Vauxhall and FF1600 in 2000. He was immediately competitive and showed race winning pace against some very experienced competitors. His performance in winning the Formula Ford Winter Series in 2001 highlighted the determination and intelligence behind the wheel. While his showings in the national Formula Ford Championship have marked him out as a genuine prospect, cuminating in him becoming Formula Ford Festival champion in 2003, the biggest prize in national motor racing. Given the right opportunities I have no doubt that Joey has the pace and ability to make it to the top of motor racing.
Joey has the ability, talent and determinaton to succeed in this highly competitive industry. He is able to produce results from cars that I didnt think were possible, and with the right backing he has the talent to go to the top in motorsport. His first test in a Formula 3 car showed his pedigree as he blitzed the best times previously set by the teams regular drivers. His performance in coming from the back of the grid to win the Walter Hayes Trophy in 2003 was nothing short of sensational.
Emerson Fittipaldi had it, so too did Gilles Villeneuve, Danny Sullivan and Roberto
Guerrero [...] Jacques Villeneuve, Jenson Button, Dan Wheldon and Anthony Davidson [...]
and so too, does Joey Foster.
All of those drivers graduated from the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School, but
that is not what they have in common [...] a school cannot make champions, they
do that for themselves [...] they all have a commitment and a huge talent to match
and they utilise those talents to leave a mark on our sport.
Joey was outstanding from the outset, joint winner of the Jim Russell World
Scholarship of 1999, he and his team mate in the UK's National Formula Vauxhall
Championship of 2000, left the opposition back down the road. He went on to
impress in Formula Ford, ultimately winning the Formula Ford Festival.
Budgetary restrictions made Formula 3 in the UK an unlikely prospect, so he
followed in Wheldon's steps to the US FF2000 series and a strong runner up performance.
With all that experience, his determination and hunger to succeed, Joey is now on
the threshold of an outstanding US career. I have no hesitation in recommending
this personable young man to any would be investor willing to fast forward that
ambition [...] Joey has left a mark at every stage of his career and given the
opportunity, he is ready to reward any investment fully and...fast! He has the capacity
to go all the way and join that gallery of true Jim Russell champions!
