Joey Ready for Ford Festival

14.10.2003 by joeyfoster.co.uk

news image The final challenge of the 2003 season is a visit to Brands Hatch and the prestigious Formula Ford Festival this weekend. A unique event that is run with a knockout system with heats and finals and draws drivers from across the globe to compete. The Festival is one of the most famous events on the British motorsport calendar and Joey went well last time just over a month ago.

The 19 year old is aiming to win the event and cap a great season, which saw him, finish 2nd overall in the championship standings. "It's been a bit manic as Phil has gone away on his honeymoon until Saturday, though his brother is running me until then". "It has been a bit strange coming out of two test sessions in Formula Renault and back in to Fords has just taken a bit of adjusting back into the swing of things".

Though Joey is not un realistic about the task ahead, "Its going to be a tough weekend, there are 60 plus drivers here but that does not worry me I have my sights set and I am going to stick to them".

"It's a hard place to overtake so qualifying is a must here, just need to keep it neat and tidy in the heats and stay clear of incidents and get through to the final in a good position". "I am aiming for nothing less than winning, I would rather not finish than finish second and a lot of the top guys share the same view".

"This year we have had a 2nd place at Brands and we are always in good shape, if I get pole in the final I will just disappear into the distance". "Clucas, Danielsson, Glew, Makela are the people that I am looking out for, Kimber-Smith who won the championship has never gone well here, though I wont write him off".

Testing for Joey takes place over Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday of this week, and with two tests in a Mark Burdett and Motaworld Formula Renault car under his belt, Joey is ready to take on Brands and go out with the most converted prize in Formula Ford. With the closely-matched field of Formula Ford's always providing very close racing and the October weather not always playing into the drivers hands it adds a even more unknown element to the racing this weekend.
