Foster Wins on Formula 3 Return
25.10.2008 by Joey Foster
Embassy Racing refugee Joey Foster returned to Formula 3 last weekend in Germany driving a HS Technik 2008 Dallara Mercedes at Hockenheim. The Cornishman scored two wins from the two races in the Austrian F3 Cup season finale. This was Foster's first Formula 3 race since a near career ending crash just over two years ago when he broke his back and neck at the Lausitring whilst leading the German F3 Cup.
After scoring two pole positions in qualifying ahead of HS Technik's regular drivers he dominated both races with two lights to flag victories.
Throughout this season Foster has been competing with Embassy Racing in one of their WF01 LMP2 prototype in the LMES Series, as well as the LeMans 24hrs. However, Foster is now looking at all options for 2009 since Embassy closed their doors to competition last month.
'This year has been a fantastic year for me. Of course its a dissappiontment to not be continuing the development of the WF01 with Embassy Racing over the winter and into next year but I have learnt a huge amount after working with some of the best engineers and drivers out there.
Last weekend was special for me as I hadnt competed in Formula 3 since my accident in a HS Technik Lola in July 2006. I was unsure after that if I would ever get the chance to compete again, so to win with HS again was a truly great feeling.'
Foster's Future?
'I am looking at all my options for 2009. I feel I can contribute a great deal to any team with the experience and success I have had with sportscars and Formula 3 racing over the last few years.'
