Joey to be a BEN Champion

news image The motor and allied trades benevolent fund is delighted to announce that two up and coming racing drivers have agreed to become champions of BEN . Joey Foster, winner of the Formula Ford Festival at Bands Hatch and runner up in the Formula Ford championship, Formula Renault Winter Series & Walter Hayes Trophy Winner is to be a champion of the charity along side BTCC Star Daniel Buxton, Renault Clio Sport Champion and Team Halfords Peugeot driver.

Joey, 20, from Truro in Cornwall, started his career the traditional way driving karts and was Club Novice Champion as early as 1995, subsequently winning five championships over the next five years until graduating to cars in 2000. Since then he has already won three Formula Ford championships and was runner up in the Formula Vauxhall series on his first attempt.

Joey in 2003 has come of age and secured 2 race wins at Oulton Park to take the Formula Ford title down to the wire in which he succeeded in securing second place in the championship, he then capped off a brilliant season winning the global Formula Ford festival only the 5th English man to achieve the feat and won every heat he entered. He also competed in the Formula Renault Winter Series in which on his first attempt out qualified regulars in the series, Croft saw Joey take second place in the final race again setting the quickest laps in qualifying. Joey rounded off a fantastic season by taking the Walter Hayes Memorial Trophy at Silverstone with drives that stunned the whole crowd and BRDC members watching on.

Both the drivers are keen to help raise awareness of what BEN does and also to encourage youngsters to become involved with the charity. Their first official duties will be on the BEN stand at the Autosport International Show at the NEC in January 2004.
